When staring at your shoes is in your comfort zone

John Green went to Ethiopia to learn more about the culture and how he can help in villages and the various communities. When he went back to look at his footage, he noticed that there was a large portion of film with him staring at his feet. He shares with us, his viewers how hard he realized it was to stare disparity in the face. Coping in the presence of another’s lack is consciously humbling. John shares the importance of listening to those in need to find out what “they” need rather than imposing our beliefs or ways of life on them. John learned from these citizens on his visit was the severity of lack of water. He has put together a project to help create sustainable water solutions called water.org/johngreen. It seems that when we acknowledge our uncomfortability and investigate deeper within ourselves, great projects can be created.
