Happy Father’s Day!
From the Care2 staff to all of our incredible members and activists, Happy Father’s Day. Today is an opportunity for all of us to reflect with friends and family on what fatherhood means to us.
In light of recent events, we want to share a couple of different takes on the role fathers can take in talking to kids about a particular topic: consent and sexual assault.
In this message, you’ll get some valuable advice about communicating around this tricky topic, an opportunity to stand with other parents and families to pledge to #TalkToYourKids, and the chance to share your commitment with others. Read on!
Thank you for everything you do, and Happy Father’s Day.

Why the Media is Failing Our Daughters
Pete Dominick is the host of “Stand Up with Pete Dominick” on SiriusXM’s Insight Channel and the father of two daughters. As a radio host and comedian, he has a unique perspective on how the media addresses issues of sexual assault and spreads messages about the roles of boys and girls. He writes: “How many sexual assaults could be prevented by being direct and honest with our children about rape culture? It’s hard to say. However, I suspect that when dads skip these conversations, real and lasting damage can be done.”
SHARE
Out of every 1,000 rapes that occur, only 6 rapists will end up incarcerated.
Social media is a powerful tool for spreading awareness. To take your involvement a step further, share the pledge with your Facebook friends or Twitter followers, to show that you will #TalkToYourKids this Father’s Day or urge parents in your life to do so.
