Lissa Rankin, MD shares the Spontaneous Remission Project

Originally published on TedX on December 18, 2014

Our minds can move us to think and feel certain ways. We can convince ourselves to health or to death. Dr. Lissa Rankin shares the work of the Spontaneous Remission Project published by the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1993 written by Caryle Hirshberg and the late Brendan O’Regan. The report conducted 3500 tests on participants who were diagnosed with various terminal diseases with placebos. Dr. Rankin shares some examples of the cases where the patients were cured as they believed themselves back to heath. This presentation shows how vital it is to think ourselves through this lifetime, we choose out fates, there is no luck involved. Our faith in our destinies are always proven to fruition.

About Lissa Rankin, MD:
New age gurus suggest that we can heal ourselves by simply changing our minds, but is this concept grounded in cold, hard science? Lissa Rankin, MD explores the scientific literature, reviewing case studies of spontaneous remission, as well as placebo and nocebo effect data, to prove that our thoughts powerfully affect our physiology when we believe we can get well.

About TEDx:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
