Genuine kindness without an audience

As I was checking out my groceries the other day, I overheard a woman ask someone if they needed help bagging their items. When I looked up, I saw a woman speaking to a gentleman with only one functioning arm. After I finished with my purchase, the gentleman had left. I approached the woman and asked her if she  had that  done that before? She was caught off guard and didn’t know what I was referring to. I brought to her attention her act of kindness towards the gentleman and her fiance interjected that it was in her nature to help others on impulse. I commended her for her modest action and him for finding such an awesome life partner. mailman note

A few days later, I was eating at a restaurant with Chris and I watched a man put down his food filled fork in mid bite to help a gentleman in a walker with the door. After the gentleman exited the samaritan sat back down and finished his bight while finishing his conversation with his wife. This time, I chose not to interrupt, I simply sat with Chris in appreciation for all the random acts of moral goodness in humankind that surrounds us.
