A New Start
I got a new start this year for me.
No more hiding in the shadows because I’m afraid who going to judge me.
I got a new start who loves me for me.
We need to take our time because we’re in love and old wounds got to heal, you are a new start for me.
Let your heart be the compass that guide you through this light of my love, you are a new start for me.
Let your heart sent you free of depression and loneliness, you are a new start for me.
Start this New Year fresh away from old memories and replace them with some that going to keep me you happy, you are a new start for me.
No more crying, wipe you face and hold your head up high, you are a new start for me.
You got me writing me like I use to but my feelings are little deeper, you are a new start for me.
I could say lots of things about me in this poem, but it’s all about you being the person who gave me a reason to be sweet and loveable, you are a new start for me.

Rachel Davis was born and raised in Northern California. Raised by her great aunt and uncle, Rachel found a voice in her poetry as a young child as a way to be heard.
Rachel says her poetry is an outlet for anything going on in her life at the time. Rachel wants her stories to reach a teen or a adult in their darkest moments and let them know that everything is going to be ok when they give their lives to God. I am openly gay, and I still believe in God with all my heart. I wasn’t born to be gay and I am proud of my decision for being myself.
“My heart, spirit, and soul are in my poetry and that is the only thing I want people to see,” Rachel Shares with us in her reflections.
