One of my colleagues finished my book the other day. When she saw me today, she asked me to expand on some of my personal stories that I shared in the book. I thought of how privileged my local readers are to be able to ask me these questions when normally well versed authors are unattainable for discussions like mine today. This person came from a childhood different from mine and I was happy to help her, (while watching my boundaries), understand that there are others like me, more than she could possibly imagine. I was hoping to expand her outlook towards individuals like me, who are making a difference in their communities despite where they have come from. I wish I could call Jeanette Walls or James McBride to ask them to expand on their stories.
